Sister and her family had to bow out of our ritual Sunday lunch at dad’s today (funny how it’s just dad’s and not mom and dad’s when mom is gone), so I thought we’d be a company of dad, grandma, Rick and I, and Bren and Sam. But just as we were about to set the table, I looked out the window to see Uncle Joe and his aunt, Katy, walking up to the house. We were so pleasantly surprised.

After reading this wonderful post earlier today I grabbed my Borders coupon and rushed out to buy this book, and now I’m having a hard time putting it down.
On the way home I stopped to pick up some food at the grocery store. At the entrance there was a table set up for Teen Challenge Women’s Ministry. I stopped by the table to have a look. I was pleased to see handmade crosses for sale, as I am trying to fill a wall with crosses and am always on the lookout for unique creations. I was excited to be able to support the ministry Teen Challenge provides women in need. You can check out their website here.

Isaiah 13:5 – 40:31
What day is it? Hubs and I lost track of time since I disrupted his schedule with my doctor’s appointments this week. Earlier tonight I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and I was wondering which church we would like to visit tomorrow. It’s Thursday (I just checked) but I thought it was Saturday. I’m straight now.
Bible reading. Holy cow it stinks when we get out of our reading rhythm. I think Hubs is nearly finished with Isaiah (he reads when it’s dead at work, as well as on his lunch break, I think), and I’m still on chapter 40. He’s waiting for me to catch up so we can continue. Continue reading →
See this picture? It was music to our ears — our aching, vibrating ears. Sitting through a Battle of the Bands competition is now right up there on my Things I Hate to Do list (right after visiting a crowded amusement park). My eardrums, two days later, are still vibrating — and I was wearing some pretty dern good earplugs.

I turned 44 today. Forty-FOUR. I don’t feel it — at all.
I set my alarm for 6:30 this morning so I could get up and see Hubs off to work. I vaguely remember turning it off and going back to sleep (sorry, honey). I awoke again at 9:30 and thought I heard Bren cracking her knuckles, so I went to her room and climbed into bed with her. She murmured Morning, momma. I gave her a kiss and snuggled a bit, then whispered in her ear Happy nine months!, which brought a smile to her face. She and Sam have been together nine months today. After that sank in she suddenly turned toward me and wished me an enthusiastic happy birthday.Do you want to go have lunch with me at Panera? I asked her. She had slept in and I knew she would be hungry. Bren smiled and stretched and let out a long Mmmmmmmm, yes! Continue reading →
We are at Psalm 69:1
It was the answer to prayer I was glad to hear: camera found! Bren didn’t leave it at the fruit stand like she thought. click pics to enlarge

She left it at the shell shop where she was buying gifts for people (including moi. Can’t wait to see what she got me!). When Bren called the shop first thing this morning and the woman said she had her camera Bren was so relieved she cried. And after looking at all her great photos (65 of ‘em!) on Facebook today, I can see why she was upset; she got some good ones! It’s nice to be able to share in her memories. Continue reading →
I’m sitting at Panera waiting for Hubs to show up. He called me earlier this morning and suggested we have dinner here. Last week I introduced him to the broccoli-cheddar soup bread bowl and he’s hooked. He’ll never try anything else here on the menu unless he is forced to (say, in the event of a nation-wide bread bowl shortage). That’s how he rolls. Me? I love the salads.

We’ve had bad luck with our kids – they’ve all grown up. ~Christopher Morley
Despite being tired earlier than usual last night, I stayed up to watch Bren pack for her trip east. I perched myself on her bed with my laptop and attempted to write, but coherent sentences would not form. I was distracted by my heart which was swollen with love, threatening to burst. Lord, it hurts loving someone this much.
I can’t stand the ache inside knowing my girl is heading out for a road trip vacation 900 miles away, so I force my thoughts up and out and focus on her packing a month’s worth of clothes for a week away.
