Well, I’m not doing a very good job getting items checked off my to-do list. I’ve been out with my Bren. We spent about three hours at B & N this afternoon after I set up a blog for her and Sam’s band, and I did some writing.
At 7 p.m. Hubs, Bren, and I sat down together and had dinner at Panera, which was great. Bren and I then went to Stuff-Mart and bought hair color. She covered my gray roots with medium brown, and I touched her up with ‘light vibrant auburn’. Two days ago she got her nose re-pierced, and got new glasses. And she looks great.
I’m forcing myself to go to bed early tonight (praying the body cooperates!). Must be at parent orientation at the university bright and early. I was looking at the itinerary on the school’s website and broke the news to Bren that her orientation begins at 8:30 a.m. with a math placement test. She moaned, “That’s no way to welcome me to college!” I told her that’s the PERFECT way to welcome her to college. What did she expect, a Welcome to College kegger? I told her not to answer that.
So, this going to bed early thing? I’m on it.
The few things I must do this week. I found my round tuit. This deserves a page all it’s own.
I was telling Hubs recently that lists and I don’t get along. I write them, then they run away from me, leaving me at the mercy of my sub-par memory. Unless some really bored hacker disables my blog, my list will stay in place — right HERE:

I’ve been watching World Cup football. England vs Germany is on now. And Germany JUST scored!
I miss England.
After reading this wonderful post earlier today I grabbed my Borders coupon and rushed out to buy this book, and now I’m having a hard time putting it down.
On the way home I stopped to pick up some food at the grocery store. At the entrance there was a table set up for Teen Challenge Women’s Ministry. I stopped by the table to have a look. I was pleased to see handmade crosses for sale, as I am trying to fill a wall with crosses and am always on the lookout for unique creations. I was excited to be able to support the ministry Teen Challenge provides women in need. You can check out their website here.

Isaiah 13:5 – 40:31
What day is it? Hubs and I lost track of time since I disrupted his schedule with my doctor’s appointments this week. Earlier tonight I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and I was wondering which church we would like to visit tomorrow. It’s Thursday (I just checked) but I thought it was Saturday. I’m straight now.
Bible reading. Holy cow it stinks when we get out of our reading rhythm. I think Hubs is nearly finished with Isaiah (he reads when it’s dead at work, as well as on his lunch break, I think), and I’m still on chapter 40. He’s waiting for me to catch up so we can continue. Continue reading →
Update at the end of this post.
The day after my first VNUS procedure I removed my compression stocking and peeled off the six bandages which was such a huge relief. (I discovered that much of my discomfort was from the adhesive on my skin being pulled and stretched by the compression stocking.) As the post-surgery sheet said, each of the injections sites had leaked; one so much that blood seeped out and left a spot on the stocking. I had nice purple bruises at each site, which were a little tender like any bruise would be. Continue reading →
As I write this it has been about fifteen hours since I had the VNUS Closure procedure done. I will update frequently as I heal and report on how effective the procedure has been for me and if I had any complications. Click on “VNUS” category in the side bar to see these specific posts.
I have always had poor circulation in my legs, even as a child. I remember a P.E. teacher in elementary school put me in as catcher during baseball games, demanding that I assume the normal squatting position after I had refused because it hurt. After thirty seconds of squatting my legs would be in excruciating pain. I never understood how all my friends could sit with their legs bent underneath them and I couldn’t.

See this picture? It was music to our ears — our aching, vibrating ears. Sitting through a Battle of the Bands competition is now right up there on my Things I Hate to Do list (right after visiting a crowded amusement park). My eardrums, two days later, are still vibrating — and I was wearing some pretty dern good earplugs.

Isaiah 1:1 – 13:4

Outside my window: my little corner of the world sleeps in the dark, in the warm, humid summer air.
I am thinking about: Bren and Sam’s Battle of the Bands competition tomorrow
I am thankful for: our computers

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – Song of Solomon 8:14
The past ten days or so have been pretty rough (for me, not him). Due to our conflicting schedules, Mr. Discipline (aka Hubs) and I have been doing our bible reading separately, which means that he has been doing his daily reading and I neglected mine. I chose, instead, to not read for days, then spent hours at a time playing catch-up (really sucks the enjoyment out of it, let me tell ya.) But catch up I did, and we were able to sit down tonight and read through Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon. I really missed our time together.
